Led by herbalist Patricia Howell, director of BotanoLogos School of Herbal Studies, our nature walks will explore the diversity of herbs and medicines native to the Southern Appalachian region, known as the “apothecary of the nation.” Hidden in plain sight throughout the Foxfire center are a multitude of plants long valued for both their healing qualities and as wild edibles. On this guided walk, you’ll hear their colorful stories, and learn about role they’ve played in local history, folk lore and why we still use many of them today!

Ticket for walk is included in daily museum admission. Please wear appropriate shoes, as the walk will include a short hike through the property.
